Using GoDaddy with Google Sites - show domain name in address bar

I follow the instructions at https://nz.godaddy.com/help/forward-your-domain-to-work-with-google-sites-6031

It works but my domain name is never displayed in address bar, https://sites.google.com/something is displayed instead. Is it possible to display domain name? Tried other manuals on web but with no success.

The root domain should be forwarded to the domain with www (301 redirect yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com)

The domain with www should point to the host using a CNAME record.

CNAME-

Host: www

Points to: ghs.googlehosted.com

The site should be configured to use the domain.

I am also having this problem.  I have created the CNAME, verified I own the URL and the website cannot be found.  Is there a chat feature for customer service?

It can take some time for Google Sites to reflect the changes.  I am not sure if they offer direct support or chat, but they also have a help forum.

Hi Nate, thanks a heap for your instructions - it took around half an hour for the changes to be propagated but now it finally works!
