Issue with Email Forwarding from my Office 365 account

I am having trouble setting up an email forwarder for my new domain: www.mydomain.com.  I currently have a single Office 365 email account: user_1@mydomain.com.  I would like to set up an email forwarder such that emails to user_2@mydomain.com are automatically forwarded to user_2@differentdomain.com but have been unable to do so.  I do not need a new mailbox for user_2.  Please help!

I think you may have to create User-2 mailbox, and configure forwarding...
