GoDaddy shared hosting doesn't allow root access, or sudo. Installing packages is beyond what you have permission to do. You'll have to find a method that doesn't require sudo.

I found these instructions, although they're untested by me so I can't vouch that they're exactly what you're looking for. https://ferugi.com/blog/nodejs-on-godaddy-shared-cpanel/

Hi @mahesiri,

Have you tried apt-get?

Hope this link can help.

Hi,

the Redhat linux distribution does not have apt-get, yum installed. my username is not even in sudoers list. Could it be because its a shared linux server?

Hi @mahesiri,

Try adding "sudo yum -y"

I.E. "sudo yum -y install nodejs"

I can not execute sudo command either.

Hi @mahesiri,

Sounds like your account is not a sudoer.

Best way is to call GoDaddy Support Hotline, so they can assist you well.

seemed like a solid guide at first but running curl gives the following err:

Failed to clone nvm repo. Please report this!

I suppose it was too good to be true.

This worked like a charm for me, still have to configure the environment a bit more but seems to be working well.

@Keeano_SomyKida were you ever able to get your env setup to work with node?

I've got nodeJS up and running but I'm not sure how to respond to a get request. Have you managed to get NodeJS to serve up content at all ?
